Input Files
Input for FLO Media Viewer can consist of:
- PDF Files
- Directory with multiple jpeg images
- InDesign Files (in the local version, and Adobe InDesign is required for this)
PDF Files
You can select a PDF file, and publish it to flash format. And while doing so, you may wish to execute a number of advanced function such as PDF preflighting on the file.
Directory with images
If you wish to publish different file formats, it's always a possibility to convert them to jpeg, and use FLO Media Viewer on those files. This can be used for different file formats, but also to add additional functionalities. External prepress software might for example render a PDF file in a way that more closely matches your printed output. This way Soft Proofing workflows can be set up with an even higher degree of reliability.
InDesign Files
You can also publish books straight from Adobe InDesign, thus saving the time needed to convert the file to PDF. Internally, we still convert it to PDF first, and that way the PDF-specific functions (such as separations or PDF preflighting) are still available. You can either choose to select an InDesign file from disk, or to use the active document in InDesign itself.
Publishing InDesign files can also be done from the InDesign interface directly.
A lot of information can be extracted form the InDesign document to feed the flash book. One example is the addition of settings to define hotspots (clickable regions) in the InDesign interface. The location and settings of those hotspots are used to automatically create regions in the created viewer.
